SoonerCare and Medicaid

What are they?

SoonerCare is Oklahoma Medicaid. Medicaid is a program that covers healthcare expenses and is jointly funded by the state and federal government. The Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) manages the program for the state. Medicaid or SoonerCare typically covers children under 19, parents and caregivers of children under 18, pregnant women, etc.

Most SoonerCare members get their healthcare services covered through one of the SoonerSelect health and dental plans. There are 3 SoonerSelect health plans. These are Humana Healthy Horizons, Aetna Better Health, and Oklahoma Complete Health. You can select a plan during open enrollment. If you already have a plan selected, you can change to a different one during open enrollment.

Learn More

  • 1 newborn care kit

  • $30 per household per quarter for over-the-counter products including diapers.

  • If pregnant or your baby is under one year, there is an app, Pacify, to access 24/7 services from a lactation consultant or nurse.

  • One non-hospital grade breast pump every 2 years.

  • Up to 14 post hospital discharge home-delivered meals.

  • Up to $40 per quarter for childcare costs for members with children 0-12 months.

  • A convertible car seat or portable crib for pregnant members who complete an assessment and follow up phone call with their care manager.

  • $10 for each prenatal appointment, up to 10 total appointments.

  • $25 reward for one postpartum visit between 7-84 days after delivery.

  • $200 per year per household for pest control.

  • Housing assistance for members 18+, up to $350 each year. A late payment notice is required for rental or utility assistance.

Value-Added Benefits

  • Behavioral health services are exempt from copay.

  • Outpatient behavioral health clinic and Certified Community Behavioral Health Centers (CCBHC) services are covered.

  • Licensed behavioral health providers outside of clinics are covered, but prior authorization is required.

  • Psychiatrists are covered.

  • Psychologists are covered, but prior authorization is required.

  • Telehealth behavioral health services are available through the Brave app.

  • Outpatient behavioral health clinic and Certified Community Behavioral Health Centers (CCBHC) services are covered.

  • Licensed behavioral health providers outside of clinics are covered, but prior authorization is required.

  • Psychiatrists are covered.

  • Psychologists are covered, but prior authorization is required.

Value-Added Benefits

You can earn up:

  • to $100 for attending prenatal visits.

  • $50 for a postpartum visit before 21 days post-delivery

  • another $50 for a postpartum visit within 22-84 days after delivery.

  • Those Under 1 year old may receive $100 for diapers/other baby items.

  • If you’re pregnant at 37 weeks+ you can earn a $90 gift card for a portable crib/car seat for prenatal visits.

  • Free breast pump for members at 37 weeks+ of pregnancy.

  • A digital maternal health app during pregnancy.

  • Access to unlimited doula services 24/7.

  • Support for breastfeeding members up to 12 months after delivery with Pacify app.

  • A hospital-grade breast pump (1 per pregnancy).

  • Community baby showers where members receive safe sleep education and 1 portable crib (1 crib per pregnancy).

  • The diaper club where members receive $30 a month for diapers for infants 0-12 months.

  • Virtual maternity care that is available 24/7.

  • Members receive $25 per prenatal visit attended once per pregnancy.

  • Members receive $10 for postpartum visit, once per pregnancy, and within 7-84 days after delivery.

  • Prenatal education and parenting classes are available.
